OmniComm Systems, Inc. And City Of Hope Collaboration To Benefit Entire Cancer Research Community
EDC Company to collaborate with leading Cancer Center to
build standards-based eCRFs and make available outcome of
collaboration to other users.
FT. LAUDERDALE, FL - December 4, 2007 - /MarketWire/ -
OmniComm Systems, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: OMCM.OB), a leader
in integrated electronic data capture (EDC) solutions for
clinical trials, today announced that City of Hope (a recent
license customer of the TrialMaster® product suite) and OmniComm
are working together to develop a set of caDSR derived
standardized case report forms and reporting tools to support
National Cancer Institute (NCI) reporting requirements. These
reusable forms and tools will be made freely available to other
Cancer Centers by OmniComm and City of Hope following a formal
process of user acceptance testing led by City of Hope staff.
City of Hope intends to use these standardized forms and NCI
reporting tools for the first trial that they put into
production using their TrialMaster environment.
"OmniComm is employing our extensive experience in building
eCRFs to build a library of eCRFs based on standards extracted
from the caDSR and have already completed the initial build of
all the forms used to meet the reporting requirements for many
NCI funded trials," said Stephen Johnson, Executive Vice
President of Business Development, Professional Services and
Client Services and Support at OmniComm. "We are confident that
working with City of Hope to validate the results and optimize
the resulting eCRFs will produce a high quality reusable tool
that many of our clients will benefit from."
"We plan to use this library as the foundation for data
collection in our early-phase oncology trials," said Jeffrey
Longmate, Ph.D., Director of Biostatistics at City of Hope.
"Having a broad collection of standard data elements already
mapped to meet our typical research needs and major reporting
requirements will help us rapidly launch new protocol-specific
eCRFs implemented with TrialMaster. We hope that the savings in
time and effort will broaden the feasibility of electronic data
capture in the Cancer Center environment."
The plan to make this library of standards-based eCRFs and
associated reporting tools available to other Cancer Centers is
consistent with other City of Hope informatics contributions to
the community including its on-going caBIG related activities.
Similarly, making these tools available to users of TrialMaster
is consistent with OmniComm's commitment to ensuring the
availability of high quality and reusable tools for its
customers. The pledge to make this resource freely available to
future adopters of TrialMaster will further reduce the time
required to bring NCI funded trials live.
